At this year’s EASTEC trade show May 14-16th in Springfield, MA you will have the opportunity to hear from a variety of keynote speakers at no additional cost. These people have been carefully selected as industry experts who can provide insight about a variety of topics related to manufacturing. The main focus for this year will be: The Economic Outlook for Manufacturing & Engaging a Multi-Generational Workforce. All presentations will be held at the SME Zone in Building #1 booth 1164 from 9:15-10:15am.
The show will start strong with a presentation from Marty Guay the VP of Business Development for Stanley Black & Decker. If you’re an entrepreneur, or a new start-up, this discussion is one you don’t want to miss. Mr. Guay will be focusing on how Stanley Black & Decker is working with these new businesses through the STANLY+Techstars Additive Manufacturing Accelerator program to provide both financing and mentorship with the goal of growing the manufacturing community and developing new innovations at a rapid speed.
The discussion on Wednesday will be led by Alan Beaulieu the President and Principal of ITR Economics. It seems that everyone can feel the impending economic changes but you may not have done all that you can to prepare your business ahead of time. You’ll want to be sure to attend this presentation to make sure you’ve taken the steps necessary to prepare for future economic shifts. There are reliable indicators we can look at to help us set realistic expectations and prepare a solid business plan for the remainder of this year as well as 2020.

Many manufacturing workers are planning to retire in the coming years which will leave a large hole for employers to fill. In order to bring on new employees you’ll need to be prepared to reach multiple generations. For many companies this will mean rethinking how they pursue candidates, what training looks like for new employees, and how they mentor workers over the years. While focusing on bringing in new worker’s employers will also need to capture the knowledge of their more senior employees before they head into retirement. This keynote address will provide information and suggestions in all of these areas.
