Gardens Aglow: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens – Throughout the month of December visit the gorgeous botanical gardens and walk through the more than 650,000 LED lights on more than 14 acres of beautifully manicured gardens. This holiday event will certainly put you in the Christmas spirit with music, hot chocolate, snacks, and holiday shopping to accompany you’re journey through the lights.
Christmas at the Rocks: Bethlehem, NH – how could a town named Bethlehem be anything less than amazing at Christmas time? If you’re looking for the full experience of finding that perfect Christmas tree, then this is the place for you. Wander around the tree farm for as long as it takes until you find “your tree”. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride to view the entire historic property and then stop in for a hot drink, soup, or meal before heading home to decorate that tree.
Christmas at the Newport Mansions: Newport, RI – the 3 beautiful mansions, The Breakers, The Elms and Marble House, will be fully decorated for the season with tours offered daily throughout the month of December. On Sunday’s Santa stops by to visit with the children and throughout the evenings there will be holiday music and snacks available.
Hill-Stead for the Holidays: Farmington, CT – this 1901 Colonial Revival house is worth the time to walk through each and every room. Family Discovery Day is the perfect time to bring the kids while the Holiday Tea & Tour will be a relaxing event for the adults. While you’re there be sure to stop in the boutique for some perfectly unique Christmas gifts.
Night Lights: Tower Hill Botanical Garden Boylston, MA – if you’re looking for something closer to the Boston area to get you in the holiday spirit visit these fabulous gardens. Walk through the 15 acres decorated with more than 200,000 lights including a firefly forest and the whole family will have a great time. Outside you can make a s’more at the fire pit and walk through the rainbow tunnel before heading inside to warm up in the story den or while watching the model trains run.
