Answer: According to the American Pyrotechnics Association 285.3 million pounds of fireworks are used each year. 260.7 million pounds used by consumers and 24.6 million pounds used for display fireworks. And the cost for all of these explosives comes to $1.09 billion, $755 million spent on consumer fireworks and $340 million on display fireworks. And of course roughly 700 people end up in the emergency room as a result of fireworks mishaps so have a fun but safe 4th of July!
